Macworld

Well, Steve Jobs has done it again with the iPhone. He teased everyone at the beginning by saying that Apple would be releasing a new touch-widescreen video iPod, a phone, and an internet device. But instead of releasing three different products, they were all integrated into the new iPhone. Although I was disappointed by the lack of a new true iPod, I couldn’t be all that disappointed since the iPhone is an amazing and good-looking phone. Apple also showed off its new Apple TV (a video / music streaming device, like an Airport Express) and the Airport Extreme, the updated wireless router that handles draft-N speeds. Most of you probably don’t understand what that means…so just think fast.

So the price of the iPhone is $599 for an 8GB iPhone and $499 for a 4GB one (each with 2 year activation). It runs Mac OS X, using Safari to go on the internet and iCal for calendar stuff. And…it’s exclusive to Cingular. Shit. I just transferred to Verizon last summer to get the Treo 700p. And I signed up for a 2 year contract with them at the time. Well, I figured since the iPhone won’t be released until June, I could wait a year, no problem. Turns out my mom wants my account with Verizon so she can talk to my dad for free (since he’s on Verizon) and I can take her account on Cingular. I didn’t even ask her to get an iPhone and she already planned it out for me, amazing. So it looks like I may be switching phone numbers again in June…sorry about that.

Anyways, if you want to see more pics of the iPhone, check it out at Apple.com
